Gay Area in Barcelona
Page Content
Q: Where is the male lover part of Barcelona town centre? And what is the best way to get around the city?
A: There are no defined gay areas as such in Barcelona as it's quite a liberal municipality. However Sitges beach is popular with the Queer community (about 30 minutes on the train from Barcelona city centre) The area that has the most gay bars, and clubs, is Eixample neighboring Calle Diputacio and Arago streets along with Calle Balmes and Villaroel (Calle is another word for street ) You will find a comprehensive mentor to the Gay and Lesbian scene in Barcelona in the Time Out guide which we contain reviewed. They have passionate a chapter to reviews of Bars, shops and clubs catering for the gay scene.
Barcelona is quite small, and you'll be able to walk around to most places or just use the Metro which will take you just about anywhere in the city. Try taking a look at our Barcelona metro page for more information.
Ibiza is considered one of the highest European LGBTQIA hotspots, with many contending that it's the best of all. Why? Ibiza is a clubbers and hedonists paradise and if that doesn't attract gay and people of all other sexual orientations, we don't grasp what does.
There's so much more to it than that though. Ibiza had one of the first organised, if clandestine, gay scenes in Spain in the 60's – in short the island has a long history with gay culture as you will observe when you saunter around the Lgbtq+ and LGBTQIA area in Ibiza Town.
As well as a very good consecrated gay scene, you'll find that many places are mixed: here sexual orientation is pretty much a non-issue. There are some LGBTQIA / mixed nights in the super clubs, though you will find that just about most club nights are going to be LGBTQIA friendly. With so many world-beating and hugely authoritative club nights, you owe it to yourself to produce it part of your experience.
Gay bars and clubs are mainly located in Ibiza Town, the fortified old town Dalt Vila and the suburb Figueretas – it's the gay hub of the island, especially in and around the street of Calle de la Virgen in the port area where you'll see much col

Gay Valencia City Guide
València
Capital of its own autonomous region and Spain’s third-largest town, Valencia is a thriving metropolis of about a million people. It is the largest port on the west coast of the Mediterranean
Founded in Roman times, Valencia’s history has been shaped by everything from Medieval times and the Moorish Crusades up to the Spanish Civil War.
Valencia has shaken off its reputation as a port city and is now recognized as an important artistic and cultural hub. It’s famous for its impressive architecture, proximity to the sea and being the birthplace of Paella.
Gay Scene
Although Valencia has not hit the homosexual tourism radar as much as say Madrid or Barcelona, the gay scene here is extremely vibrant. There are Gay Bars, Homosexual Dance Clubs, Gay Saunas and Gay Cruise Clubs scattered throughout the city.
The city is regarded by some as even more liberal than Madrid and Barcelona and was notable for having an elected lesbian mayor from 1991-2015. The city hosts a popular gay Pride procession in June.
