Transgender Candidate Takes on Male lover Incumbent

June 24, 2014— -- An historic principal race is taking place in Montgomery County, Maryland, today, where a trans person woman and a queer man are competing today for a seat in the state senate.

Openly queer state Sen. Richard Madaleno is trying to fend off a challenge by openly transgender and lgbtq+ candidate Dana Beyer.

Madaleno was the first gay elected official to serve in the state's senate, and Beyer - if she were to win - would be Maryland's first transgender state senator.

There is no Republican running in this year's race to represent the district, so the winner of today's primary will likely travel directly to the senate.

Beyer is the executive director of Gender Rights Maryland, a transgender advocacy collective, and writes an LGBT column for the Huffington Post, while Madaleno helped spearhead legislation to extend protections for transgender citizens this year and has earned the endorsement of Equality Maryland, an LGBT advocacy group.

Carrie Evans, director of Equality Maryland, told the Baltimore Sun earlier this year that she expected the two homosexual candidates to split the LGBT vote.

8 Times Stranger Things Hinted At Will Being Gay (& You Totally Missed It)

Stranger Things fans finally know that Will Byers is gay, but there were signs throughout the series pointing toward this. There has been speculation about Will’s sexuality, and even more so in season 4. While the Duffer Brothers wouldn’t confirm one way or another, Noah Schnapp did assert “he is homosexual, and he does love Mike” in July 2022 (via Variety). He also said it was a “slow arc” before season 4.

It was indeed a slow arc before Stranger Things season 4. There were things here and there that hinted at Will entity gay, but it was easy to overlook them because they’re kids. Also, there was a lot of more pressing things going on each season. It wasn’t front and center in the way it was in season 4. In addition, Will is in high school in season 4, so it makes meaning that he will be realizing his sexuality more than he was in middle school. Here are eight hints that Stranger Things gave viewers that Will was gay.

USN Gay-Straight Alliance launches new resource

A year ago, members of the High Academy Gay-Straight Alliance sought to address a challenge: they wanted to find a way for students to ask questions about lesbian, male lover, bisexual, transgender, and queer identity and support without apprehension of backlash or judgment; and, they wanted to respond to those questions in a behavior accessible to everyone in the USN community.

In early October, after months of brainstorming, research, meetings with High University administrators, design, mock-ups, and testing, GSA launched its solution: a web-based resource that it calls GSA Q&A.

The notion is straightforward: First in October each USN High University student and faculty member received an email message from GSA; in it was a link to the GSA Q&A website. If a student has a question about LGBTQ+ identity or support for themselves, friends, or family members, they simply follow the link to the Q&A website and submit their question.

Teachers, administrators, coaches, and staff can submit questions that help them to support Gay students both in and out of the classroom.

The website is set up for questions to

Hidden Stories of Engineering: The LGBTQIA+ German immigrant who became one of Britain’s leading engineers

Railway historian Anthony Dawson shares the story of Charles Beyer of Manchester's Beyer, Peacock & Co.

Beyer, Peacock & Co. of Manchester was one of Britain’s greatest firms of locomotive builders. Their products can be start across Europe, Scandinavia, Egypt and one solitary example in the United States. Perhaps the most notable locomotives built by the Gorton firm were the Beyer-Garratts, examples of which can be found throughout Africa, India and Australasia. The global success of the firm for over 100 years was down to the excellence of its design in no small part thanks to a LGBTQIA+ German immigrant, Charles Beyer.

Charles Beyer arrived in the UK as a penniless immigrant from Saxony, yet by the end of his being he was worth, in today’s terms, several millions. He had achieved all of this despite coming from a working-class background in Germany (his family had been hand-loom weavers), fighting prejudice against organism a German and—perhaps lesser known—for being LGBTQIA+.

Born in Plauen in Saxony on 14 May 1813, he received a basic training before being appren
