If you don’t have the budget for that summer share, consider camping, glamping, or ranching for a taste of the fantastic outdoors this Summer.

You can make a reservation or look into membership at several gay campgrounds across the U.S. From clothing-optional to female-friendly, we pulled together a brief list of gay campgrounds you may want to consider visiting. Yes, we realize there are probably several more queer-welcoming campgrounds, but these are just a few thought-starters and ideas for LGBTQ+ travelers.

Campit Outdoor Resort (Fennville, MI)

Membership: $15/basic | $225/social better option for locals)

This campground is located near Saugatuck and Douglas, Michigan, which are two towns that made our list of 22 Compact LGBTQ+-Friendly Cities in the U.S. So, that bodes well for queer campers looking to stay here! Make your next vacation a queer camping trip in an RV

Whether to soak up nature or budget thought, your next best vacation may be a same-sex attracted camping trip in a tent or RV. Here’s how to plan and save today for that fabulous road trip.

Why should you plan a lgbtq+ camping trip?

Gay travel is a popular and profitable niche within the commute industry. A good percentage of LGBTQ influencers on Instagram and YouTube are gay travel bloggers and gay travel vloggers. A niche within the queer travel niche that’s often overlooked is gay camping and gay RVing, which are the perfect vacations for these unique times.

No doubt, you miss your international travel, too. We hear ya! But there’s much to love at home in the excellent ol’ US of A. With the CDC still cautioning about air move and the expectation that COVID may be with us to some degree for the next two to three years, the best way to watch the good ol’ US of A is on the road.

What’s a recreational vehicle or RV?

The stylish kids abbreviate “recreational vehicle” as RV. An RV is anything on wheels, such as a motorhome or trailer, with living quarters and accommodations. Accommodations is a respec

Camping as a Queer Person of Color

Hipcamp proudly supported the first-ever LGBTQ Outdoor Summit in October 2017 in Seattle, WA. Hipcamp Photographer Roz Posley attended on behalf of Hipcamp to share her trial as a queer person of color in the outdoor space. This is her story. Thanks for sharing, Roz!

Spending time outdoors should always be an opportunity to sit advocate , relax, and enjoy the natural world. Philosophers enjoy Henry David Thoreau, Rachel Carson, John Muir, and many others advised humans to get outdoors and interact with the instinctive world. In fact, they found the outdoors to be a safe haven. Nonetheless, for people who identify as LGBTQ, enjoying the outdoors isn’t always easy. As a gay polyamorous person of hue, I have firsthand life feeling outcasted, afraid, and judged while attempting to explore the outdoors. However, with years of trial, excessive research skills, and outdoor organizations that are aware of the lack of LGBTQ inclusion, it’s possible to have a good time!

Growing up, I was always outside. I loved playing in the mud, rolling in the grass, going to camp, and catching (and releasing) fireflies! So naturally, as I’ve gott
