Point Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: December 2023

Point Foundation (Point) is the nation’s largest higher teaching scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, pansexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming (LGBTQ) students. Point’s multifaceted support of its scholarship recipients (“scholars”) extends far beyond direct financial contribution toward the cost of their education. Each scholar is paired with a mentor and participates in governance development programs and events. Point’s scholarship application is present online during a designated scholarship application period; generally November through December.

Point Scholars agree to maintain a high level of academic recital and give advocate to the LGBTQ community through the completion of an individual community service project each year.

TO APPLY

NOTE: If you would like to get feedback on your application, you must send your materials to the Office of Prestigious Awards and Fellowships (prestigiousawards@miami.edu) at least two weeks prior to the application deadline.

Point Foundation Scholarship for LGBTQ

APPLICATIONS OPEN NOVEMBER 1ST.

Point Foundation was established in 2001 to nurture the next generation of LGBTQ leaders. Point Foundation empowers promising LGBTQ students to achieve their complete academic and leadership potential – despite the obstacles often put before them – to make a significant impact on society.

By identifying and supporting these scholars, Point hopes to provide a greater level of acceptance and respect within future generations for all persons, regardless of sexual orientation, gender phrase, or gender identity. We honor our scholars - their leadership, their acumen, their early involvement in lesbian, gay, bisexual, gender non-conforming and queer causes, and their pledge to create the world a fairer and better place for all.

Point Scholarships are awarded on a "last provider" basis. Point fills in the gaps and provides funds not provided by other scholarships, grants, loans, work/study programs, etc. It is the responsibility of those selected as Aim Scholars to secure as much outside funding as possible. Point is not intended to be, and cannot be, the sole source of support because ther
