    QDoc: Portland’s Queer Documentary Film Festival is back and bigger than ever.

    The 7th annual festival opens at McMenamins Bagdad Theater May 16 with the larger than life portrait of drag superstar Divine in I Am Divine presented with director Jeffrey Schwarz and actress Mink Stole in attendance. Following Opening Night, the Festival continues through May 19 at McMenamins Kennedy School with ten documentaries that feature gay, homosexual woman, transgender, bisexual, transsexual and gender-questioning artists, lovers, activists and pioneers.

    Festival Passes can be purchased for $75 and also provide admission to the reception. Obeying the opening assessing, the audience is invited to combine QDoc at Backstage, located around the corner from the Bagdad Theater, for a no-host celebration.

    The Festival continues with ten more films, which will be presented at the McMenamins Kennedy College Theater in NE Portland. Check out the official QDoc website for more information on the films and the Festival!

    This Saturday, Oct. 5, writer/director Jon Garcia's new film The Falls: Testament of Love, the sequel to his 2012 queer clip festival favorite The Falls, is making its planet premiere at the 2013 Portland Lesbian and Homosexual Film Festival (PLGFF), with Garcia and the actors in attendance at the screening.

    Shot in Portland, Ore., the Falls saga follows the doomed romance of two Mormon youth who discover much more than God whilst doing their mission work. Testament of Love picks up the story five years after we last saw the pair of conflicted lovers and is set to take the 2013 festival circuit by storm this fall.

    I caught up with Garcia this week to chat about the production. Read our interview after the trailer below.

    Logan Lynn: Hi, Jon. For our readers who have not seen The Falls, could you give us the rundown on the story of the original film?

    Jon Garcia: The Falls is the story of Chris Merrill and RJ Smith, two Mormon missionaries that fall in love on their mission.
