The former “Empire” TV star awaits sentencing after a Chicago jury found him guilty of five counts of felony disorderly conduct for staging the invade, which could imply up to three years in prison. Obi-Wan Kenobi was huddled, shivering, soaked in sweat. He was crying — literally crying — in agony. But he wasn’t mortally wounded by Darth Vader. He was just dealing with his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. “It really kicked my ass,” says Ewan McGregor. “It really did.” The effects of the actor’s second jab of Moderna were bad enough that McGregor — who dons the Jedi Master’s cloak once more for a Disney+ series due in 2022 — had to cancel lightsaber training and postpone this interview.
“For months, we’ve been doing these monster, two-and-a-half-hour sessions of sword fights and hand-to-hand stuff,” says McGregor, bearded for the part, in a Zoom conversation that spans several hours. A poodle-Chihuahua mix naps peacefully in his lap. “But there was no way it was happening this week,” he adds. “Not with a 100.7 fever.” (The disturbance in the Force did not last long: McGregor was support to normal in 48 hours.)

Jussie Smollett: Actor start guilty of lying about attack
Authorities opened an investigation into the attack, but in February of that year, police charged Smollett with filing a fake police report, alleging he had staged the assault.
He faced a total of six charges, each referring to other instances in which he was accused of lying to police. He was found guilty of five of the six charges, interpretation that the last one had not been proven in court.
At trial, jurors heard from brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, who said Smollett had orchestrated the attack himself and paid them $3,500 (£2,600) to carry it out.
Smollett said the cheque was for a meal and workout plan from Abimbola, a comrade and an extra on Empire, a TV drama about a hip hop dynasty. Asked by his defence lawyer if he gave the man payment for the alleged scheme, Smollett replied: "Never."
He also testified that he and Abimbola were involved in a sexual relationship before the alleged attack.
Special prosecutor Dan Webb asked the thespian repeatedly about a "hoax" attack. Each time, Smollett denied that was the case.
