Who Is Nick Mead? All About the US Flag Bearer at the Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony
Nick Mead is not your usual Olympic athlete by any means. His main origin of income is his day job at Peloton where he works as a Senior Transportation planner. But, if you contemplate that makes him just an average Joe, reflect again. He won the gold medal in the men’s four boat concluding for the US rowing team. This is the first time they possess done this in the past 64 years.
He took to Instagram shortly after his win, posting an image of him holding the medal with a caption. It read, “Peloton Employee by Day, Team USA Rowing Champ By Night”. This becomes even more special because he rows boats absolutely for his love and desire for the sport and has succeeded in bagging victory for it. The great success will be celebrated and honored, as he has been selected to be one of two flag bearers for the USA team at the closing ceremony with Katie Ledecky. No rower has ever been chosen to do this. It is a big accomplishment for which he will be proud for years to come.

Olympic Gold Medalists Katie Ledecky & Nick Mead Named As Team USA Flag Bearers For Closing Ceremony
Four-time Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky and two-time Olympic rower Nick Mead have been named as Team USA flag bearers at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympics on Sunday.
The announcement by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) comes amid growing excitement around Sunday’s ceremony, which will see the city of Paris hand over the summer games baton to L.A., host city in 2028.
A raft of Hollywood stars is expected to participate in this segment of the ceremony, led by Tom Cruise, who is believed to possess pre-recorded material in Paris this spring and is also rumored to be preparing a skydiving stunt into the Stade de France venue.
The flag bearing honor for Ledecky follows a stellar show in Paris where she won four medals to change into the most decorated U.S. women’s Olympian of all occasion and the fifth most decorated Olympian in history with 14 medals.

Jacob Knight was known as one of the go-to teachers at Brentwood Elementary, especially for students who had experienced trauma or felt like they didn’t belong. Knight, who taught fifth grade, was so popular that parents specifically angled to get their children placed in his classroom.
Spencer Brower requested to have his 11-year-old daughter, Keleah, placed in Knight’s class. “As parents, we loved Mr. Knight,” Brower told RANGE. “He created an environment, for at least our daughter, that was safe and secure, but also held kids responsible and accountable for developing and learning on their own.”
Knight’s fellow teachers recommended him too. Brower knew to request Knight for Keleah because her fourth-grade teacher thought she would thrive under Knight’s instruction.
Keleah, who spoke with RANGE over the cell with her dad deliver, said she struggles with anxiety and that she felt comfortable in Knight’s class because when she was stressed about something, he always found a way to take her mind off of it.

If you’re just now learning about Team USA rower Nick Mead, you might not know much about him beyond the fact that he’s a 2024 Olympic gold medalist. You might not know that he’s a native of Strafford, PA, and a graduate of The Episcopal Academy. Or that he’s also a graduate of Princeton University, and just led the U.S. to a first place finish in the Men’s Coxless Four for the first time since 1960.
