Reisner told 1010 WINS' Al Jones that he prefers not to call the new place a gay hotel, but rather a straight-friendly hotel catering to the gay lifestyle.

New York City queer real estate developer Ian Reisner has signed a lease to take over the former Playboy Club space and the adjacent Cachet Boutique Hotel NYC with the intent of transforming it into a gay-friendly hotel, restaurant, and nightclub.

Reisner told The Fresh York Post that he is in talks with a European boutique hotel operator to open the space in September.

Until then, the yet-to-be-named hotel will operate as an Airbnb, with rentals potentially starting as soon as this month.

Located at 510 W. 42nd Street, the renovated Cachet Boutique Hotel vacuum, which shuttered last October, will feature a 103-room hotel and a 7,500-square-foot restaurant and common area that will be unseal for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night dining.

The territory that once housed the former Playboy Club is a 14,000-square-foot entertainment complex that will include an “experiential supper club,” a dance space, and a subterranean cellar mixology bar.

The remainder of the property, including a 3,000-square-foot restaurant, is in the

New York’s First Lgbtq+ Hotel Still on Track

As we reported in February of last year, New York City was due to gain its own “gay urban resort” this past spring. But as is so often the case in hotel developments, even the foremost plans lead to delays and re-jiggering; projects are in constant evolution. The good news: The Out NYC is still coming to Hell’s Kitchen, although in reduced scope. The question: when exactly? For all those couples that legally tied the knot yesterday, me thinks there will be a suite with your name on it come your first anniversary.

Till then, Phase 1 is set for completion this fall, when the 11,000-square-foot XL Nightclub (so ill needed in a city where move spots have all but died) has its grand debut in conjunction with John Blair and Beto Sutter, plus the addition of Rockit and Club 57 champs Fornabio-Voss Events.

When it’s all said and done, what will this latest incarnation of the complex observe like?

  • Instead of raising the current building to five stories, developers will store it at three, allowing for 105 rooms instead of 127. The talk to is still far west 42nd Road between 10th and 11th Aves, an area colonized most recently by the Yotel.  “Out”
