Google Sheets Has a Covert Rainbow Trick That Will Make You Smile

After all the depressing Indiana drama last week, we could really operate a good dose of silly, uplifting gay entertaining. Lucky enough, we can acknowledge Google for providing it to us: There’s a secret way to change Google Drive Sheets (i.e. their version of Excel) into a rainbow flag, and it’s pretty darn cool.

To start, visit the Google Sheets homepage. On the bottom right hand side, you’ll see a grassy circle with a “+” in the middle; click this to create a new sheet. You’ll acquire a standard spreadsheet that looks like this:

Then, type the letters p-r-i-d-e in the top of the first five cells:

Once you go in the last “e,” boom! Instant rainbow takeover!

How awesome is that? Thank you, Google, for making spreadsheets just a wee bit more fun.

Google Celebrates ‘Scooby-Doo’s’ Velma Coming Out as Woman-loving woman With Gay Identity festival Easter Egg

Google is showering Velma with confetti and gay-pride flags after the longtime member of the “Scooby-Doo” crew has officially been confirmed as a lesbian.

In a fresh Easter egg that appeared Wednesday, Google Search queries for “Velma,”“Velma Scooby-Doo,”“Velma Dinkley” (the character’s occupied name) and even “Dinkley” yield a regular search-results page — along with a cascade of multicolored confetti and various LGBTQ flags. The Google Look for page then pops up two buttons at the bottom of the page: one to replay the animation, and another to distribute the search product via Facebook, Twitter or email (along with a trio of gay lgbtq+ fest flag icons).

Google Search is celebrating Velma’s coming out in the new animated feature “Trick or Deal with Scooby-Doo!,” which shows her majorly crushing on Coco Diablo, the head of a costume crime syndicate. Search queries for her identify trigger a confetti shower including the Progress Lgbtq+ fest and Lesbian Pride flags, celebrating an outing that has been decades in the making. 

On Wednesday, clips from the upcoming Warner Bros. Animation special Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! made it official that the animated figure long suspected to be attracted to women was in truth a lesbian all the while. 

This comes after the screenplay writer behind the 2002 live-action Scooby-Doo film said he had intended to make this explicitly eliminate, only to be barred from doing so.

“I tried!” James Gunn told a fan in 2020. “But the studio kept watering it down and watering it down, becoming ambiguous.”  

Her coming out is similar to that of other well-known and beloved fictional characters like Smithers in The Simpsons, whose implied sexual orientation was far more apparent than the light innuendo surrounding the bookish Velma.

For a company only founded in 1998, Google has had a drawn-out history of engagement with the LGBTQ community.

Google has been a proud supporter of equal rights for LGBT community and same sex marriage for years. Extending the support, Google engineers have created another Easter Egg at Google Docs where a short-lived pride trick converts entire spreadsheet into LGBT flag.

To imitate this Google Event Easter Egg, pursue one of these methods –

Open Google Docs Spreadsheet. Type letters P-R-I-D-E in each of the column at top row. Now click on any cell.

or

Go to the any spreadsheet and appends its URL at address lock with &pride=true.

This Easter Egg was shared by Tiffany Henry who accidentally discovered it yesterday while working on a vacation spreadsheet.

Last week, Google had similar Easter egg where the hunt box surrounded itself with rainbow colors for LGBT akin searches like “gay pride”, “pride parade”, “homosexuality” and many more.

Google is recognizable to provide non-discriminatory benefits and same rights to its transgender employees, often referred as Gayglers. They have also published fewvideos in the past to support the community.
